Grappling with Grappa
I decided to try this recipe from Jamie Oliver. I have seen him 'make' this on the Food Network channel several times over, because they love to repeat shows on that channel.
After watching it several times I was very intrigued.
The 'recipe' is here.

I don't drink regularly.
I drink communion wine (obviously) and sometimes a bit of Ginger wine and the occasional Baileys.
I attended a wine tasting session in Australia a couple of years ago. I was there for a conference and someone thought wine tasting would be a nice group activity. Not for me, but it would have been if I drank wine. Anyway it was ok. I wasn't a party pooper but the wine was wasted on me.
I normally try different mulled drinks and the occasional alcho pops during Christmas but the reason I like these is simply the sugar. I do not have a discerning palate when it comes to wine and I really don't care because one cannot be perfect all the time. 😁
Having said all this, I was quite please to have a JO recipe which was so easy to put together. Grapes, Grappa and chocolate. What could possibly go wrong? Chocolate, one of my five a day (the grapes) and an opportunity to try a new alcoholic drink. Yay!
I put everything out for the new year and relaxed listening to Gok Wan DJing from his kitchen. Thanks Aunty Gok.
Well I liked the chocolate. The frozen grapes were ok but the Grappa was not nice at all. Maybe it is an acquired taste or maybe my undiscerning palate was at work.
Anyway I am glad I tried it. The whole purpose of cooking new things is to experiment with the unfamiliar and so I have grappled with Grappa and I am pleased I tried it but I don't think it tastes that great, even if the lovely talented JO thinks so.
So I won't be repeating this recipe.
I also have a bottle of unwanted Grappa to get rid of.
Grappa anyone?
Or maybe I should look for a Grappa cake recipe 😃
